Location. La Pirogue Hotel is located on the island of Mauritius, in the Indian Ocean, on the beach in Flic en Flac. The hotel is five kilometres from the Casela Bird Park and 35 kilometres from the capital city, Port Louis.
Hotel Features. La Pirogue Hotel is modelled on a traditional fishing village with thatched cottages built from volcanic rock. It is set in 14 hectares of gardens and the outdoor pool is surrounded by palm trees.
Thatches serves a range of international dishes buffet style, at six themed cooking stations. Paul et Virginie offers Mauritius cuisine including fresh seafood. There is a Mediterranean style caf�, a beach bar and Blue Bar, as well as beach and poolside services. Half board rate includes breakfast and dinner.
Complimentary water sports at La Pirogue Hotel include kayaking, glass bottom boat tours and windsurfing, while undersea walks, big game fishing, scuba diving, and dolphin discovery excursions are provided at a surcharge. A riding club opposite the resort offers rides along the beach. There are also activities clubs at the hotel for children and teenagers. The neighbouring Sugar Beach Resort offers a spa, for treatments and massages, and a gym.
Guestrooms. There are 248 guestrooms, three in the main building and the rest situated in single storey thatched cottages. Rooms are decorated in modern island style. All rooms have coffee/tea makers, desks, satellite television, direct dial phones, ceiling fans, and safes. The hotel offers a half board rate.
Expert Tip. Originally a small fishing village, Flic en Flac is situated in the west side of Mauritius and has a long, white beach and lagoon, fringed with Casurina trees. The resort itself offers lots of activities, including a supermarket, restaurants, cyber caf�, bike and scooter rentals, and a chemist.
