Banbury, United Kingdom OX16 0AN

Built in 1632 Macdonald Whately Hall is a stone built former coaching house located at Banbury Cross. The hotel features many original 17th Century period details including oak panelled black beam corridors, hidden staircases, and priest holes. It is even said to have a resident ghost, Father Bernard. The 69 guestrooms are traditionally decorated in keeping with the period features of this hotel. All include televisions, CD players, tea and coffee making facilities, minibars, complimentary toiletries and wireless Internet access. Rooms have views of the town and Banbury Cross or of the hotel gardens.
After breakfast, guests can browse through complimentary newspapers by the open fire in the hotel lobby, take a walk in the garden or play a game of croquet on the lawn. The hotel can also provide guests with murder mystery breaks in a historical setting. Swifts Restaurant offers traditional and contemporary English dishes and has a terraced seating area with views of the gardens. Snacks, lunches, and afternoon teas are served in the Berkeley Lounge. The historic site of Warwick Castle is 14 miles away and the hotel offers guests discounted tickets to this attraction. Stratford upon Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, and the historic city of Oxford, are both located within 18 miles of Whately Hall. Birmingham Airport is 40 miles from the hotel, a drive of around 45 minutes.
