Location.The Marshall House is located in the historic district of Savannah, Ga., a two and one half mile walking district encompassing Savannahs famous 18th century garden squares, the grand architecture of historic homes, antique shops, bistros and nightclubs. Less than three blocks from the hotel, original cobblestones line River Street along the broad Savannah River, featuring art galleries and nautical themed shops. City Market is filled with art studios, galleries, shops and restaurants five blocks away.

Features. Built in 1851, The Marshall House is Savannahs oldest hotel, featuring the original staircases, wood floors, fireplaces, brick walls and guestroom doors. The original courtyard was encased with a glass ceiling to create an atrium. Artifacts found during the buildings renovation in 1999 are displayed on the second and third floors. A second story, intricate wrought iron veranda graces the front of the hotel, complete with rocking chairs and ceiling fans. The Marshall House is home to 45 Bistro, which serves specialties such as veal osso bucco and filet of salmon gratin�ed with Asiago cheese. The bistro and bar feature a warm and elegant ambience with hardwood floors, softly lit wall sconces, artwork, wainscoting and brick walls. The Marshall House offers complimentary continental breakfasts each morning in the restaurant. Complimentary wine and cheese are served Sunday through Thursday evenings. A 24 hour business center includes a computer with high speed Internet access and a printer. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in the lobby and library. The Marshall House offers complimentary member privileges at the Downtown Athletic Club, located one block away.

Guestrooms. Individually furnished with touches of times gone by, the guestrooms feature pine wood floors and the original windows. Six second floor rooms open out onto the veranda. All rooms offer private bathrooms with pedestal sinks. Select rooms feature claw foot tubs. Complimentary bottled water, turndown service, bathrobes and Bath & Body Works toiletries are provided. High speed Internet access is complimentary in all rooms.

Expert Tip. In 1864 and 1865, the hotel was occupied by Union troops led by General Sherman, and used as a hospital for wounded soldiers until the end of the Civil War. The Travel Channel has featured The Marshall House several times on their haunted hotel programs.
